From printed coasters left in bars to remind drinkers to call a cab, to the creative ads plastered on billboards during March Madness, it’s always interesting to see what they’ll come up with next. So when we saw this cop car from Glendale, California, painted to look like half a taxi and half a cop car to remind people that they need to be careful which ride they choose.

The taxi/cop car is part of an initiative started in 2015 in Glendale, to raise awareness about the consequences of your choices. In essence, the message is that you should be smart and choose the taxi because if you don’t you’ll end up in the cop car! And if that sounds like a threat – good – it’s meant to! The Glendale Police Department want drivers to realize that even not making a choice (like not choosing the taxi and just driving yourself home from the bar) counts as making a choice! And you won’t like the consequences.
The one ride costs a lot more than the other!
Picking the taxi cab might cost you an extra $20 or $30 bucks now, depending on how far you live from the bar. But the inconvenience of having to shell out those extra dollars now is ultimately far less inconvenience and money than you’ll have to deal with if you make the wrong choice!
