Two Pints of Vodka and Stolen Vehicle Results in Felony Charges

There is an old saying that goes: “With friends like you, who needs enemies”, and it may well reflect the feelings of Edward Roskiewicz, whose truck was stolen by a friend of his girlfriend, who then proceeded to crash it into another vehicle, flee the county in it, and finally roll it over on the highway.

34-year-old Shynell D. Curry was very, very drunk on the afternoon of August 22nd when she arrived at her friend’s boyfriend’s home and demanded that he give her a ride to Saginaw. Which may have been why she thought it was a good idea to steal his truck keys and make a break for it when he refused. Read more ›

Sturgis OWI Charges: Officer Doesn’t Remember Accident

OWI Charges are Misdemeanors

Unfortunately, or fortunately, depending on your perspective, Officer Bryan Lee Stuck doesn’t remember much about his birthday celebration. While he does recall sharing a few drinks with some friends, from there things get just….a touch….hazy…..

The 29-year-old Sturgis Police officer recently crashed his pickup truck through a guardrail and into a cluster of trees after spending all evening at the bar. He apparently doesn’t remember where he had been celebrating, or how much he drank during these celebrations, or even what variety of drinks he had chosen to celebrate with. During his interview with police, which took place in the back of the ambulance while Stuck was wearing a cervical collar, Stuck admitted that he couldn’t recall leaving the bar, driving away down the road, or even crashing his car into the ditch. Taking Pills, Drinking Alcohol, Then Driving

One thing you can be certain of when it comes to police – an officer is ALWAYS an officer. Whether at work, at home, awake or asleep, on duty or off, a cop will remain a cop. Even if their uniform is at the cleaners and they’re out running errands with their kids. And cops are trained to notice things.

Just like the off-duty Van Buren County sheriff’s deputy recently who happened to take note of a motorist speeding and displaying reckless behavior in the village of Paw Paw recently. Read more ›
